So, as my birthday quickly approaches so does the trip to New York. We leave on July 21, Saturday, after my cousin Beth's wedding. The induction ceremony starts at 1:30pm. I can't wait! Barry Larkin has always been one of our favorite Redlegs.
Hopefully we will get to stay about a week, but it depends on how much leave James was actually given. He comes home Thursday. He mailed himself a box of jeans, a baseball glove and shoes. It got to the house yesterday. Dad thought it was funny, I thought it was funny. I guess he wanted to make sure it was here before he got home.
If we can stay a week, I hope we go into the city and do a few of the tourist things. I really want to go to the falls and the WTC memorial. Those are the only things that I don't want too miss if we stay. Sure, I'd love to do the other things everybody does as well, but they aren't on the top of my personal list.
I received an e-mail from Ellis Island yesterday, which I get monthly, it's like a newsletter. So, we may be going there and looking at the records. This excites me as I love to learn about my family. I'd like to know more. I already know that most of them come from either Lancashire and County Cork, but that's really all I know. I'd like to know more.
I will be taking a lot of photos but I'm not sure if they will be with an actual camera or my mobile phone. If from my mobile (which I'll try to take some), I will upload them right away using twitter or something.. If they are from an actual camera it will have to wait until I get home.
As you know from my previous blog, I am now debt free. Since NY is during my birthday (the induction is Sunday, which is my birthday) so hopefully I'll have a little bit more spending money. I'm not a big shopper though, especially in places that everything is over priced since they know people will buy it. I wouldn't be able to live somewhere so touristy all year round.
